Koloto Siraji:
My choreographic identity is creating emotions and intentional body movements. My interest is questioning the myths around humanity, interpreting stories of the world and narrating stories of my ancestry.
The installations, sounds, props and costumes are part of my creation sense and contribute to how the work is interpreted and questioned. I put emphasis on driving the emotional chemistry of my dance movements; my audience should experience the emotions such as Fear, love, sorrow, hope or tension if that is the emotional chemistry of the dance piece.
As a choreographing artist, I find my path at times through creating incubation processes. This could involve practicing the art on other bodies other than mine. My habit loops in revisiting history, defining the present and creating a futuristic projection. My works are abstract and give no direct answers but awaken questions in every soul and compel each to seek meaning.
